W.i.t.Ch. play a repertoire that embraces the multi-faceted range of European folk and traditional music and makes common roots visible.

W.i.t.Ch.'s powerful performance casts a spell with songs and tunes from all over Europe in a romantic and wild repertoire. Merry drinking songs, poetic love ballads and songs about the bawdy and gruesome fate of women throughout all ages are diligently arranged for four female voices. Their instrumental repertoire comprises lively traditional dance tunes and quiet, enchanting airs as well as original compositions by its members.

Music

The instrumental part of the repertoire comprises traditional dance tunes from Ireland, Scandinavia, Austria...and an increasing number of original pieces composed by the band members.

The basic line up of fiddle, guitar, flute, percussion and bass is enriched through the use of traditional instruments such as bagpipes, celtic harp, tin whistles, accordion and bodhrán.

The songs from Scotland, Spain, Bulgaria, England...enthrall with their contents as well as their beautiful melodies: the individuals in the songs are sometimes pitied, sometimes described in a rather neutral way and sometimes even made fun of.

One main element and a special feature in the vocal repertoire of W.i.t.Ch. is their singing in harmonies, where the characteristic voices of the five women are united to a harmonious whole.
